Hello there SaVRID, you current president, Jenny McLean here with a few announcements! Tomorrow, May 18, 2018 is our General Meeting. I want to emphasize that we are in a new room. It is not Community Rooms 1-3 and not Raef Hall! It is the Fine Arts, room 512. We shall see if it is more ADA accessible. The closest parking is in Lot D, which is near the corner of College Oak and Myrtle. Please pay the $2.00 for the parking pass… they are very strict with the rules now a days. (NO free parking :(
The GM typically starts at 6:30; however, we are going to try to start at 6:15PM. We have a lot to cover in our meeting :)
Elections are taking place for 8 positions. You as, members, should have received some bio’s but others will get up and talk about themselves too.
We will vote for some bylaw changes. Again you should have received the 30 day notice if you are a member re: Dissolution language and also MAL designated language.
Remember to vote you MUST be a dual member of SaVRID and RID!!!!!
We will also celebrate the publishing of Lois Diamonds’ book! Hopefully she will be with us on Friday to announce it herself.
THEN we will celebrate Eileen McCaffrey’s retirement!!!
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night, May 18th at 6:00 (when the doors open)!!!
30 Day Bylaws Review Notice - 4/18/2018
Bylaw Addition: Dissolution Language
(This Dissolution Statement would become Article XII if passed by the membership)
Rationale: As SaVRID prepares to celebrate its forty year anniversary, our organization’s founding history can be less well known to current members.
SaVRID’s current Bylaws make no mention of a dissolution plan. SaVRID’s Article of Incorporation leave distribution decisions of remaining assets to the Board.
To maintain a connection with SaVRID’s founders and their original inspiration and perspiration, the Board is proposing American River College Interpreter Preparation Program be specially named. Many of SaVRID’s first Board of Directors were ASL teachers and interpreter trainers at American River College.
The SaVRID Board and Bylaws Committee also wish to see remaining assets from SaVRID stay local and serve the communities that have supported SaVRID through the years.
If SaVRID dissolves, it seems prudent to also actively support the affiliate chapter that would absorb SaVRID’s membership.
